Skincare Protocols Built for Your Barrier, Not a Generic Routine

Clinical analysis, results-driven actives, and seasonal adjustment — Mintbterra's skincare appointments are calibrated to Montréal's climate and your skin's actual architecture.

How we approach skin differently

Most facials follow a fixed menu. Mintbterra's skincare appointments begin with a skin-mapping analysis — a structured visual and tactile assessment of your barrier function, hydration levels, congestion zones, and any active concerns — before a single product is selected. From that mapping, your aesthetician builds a session plan: which exfoliation method is appropriate (enzyme, lactic, or salicylic), which active serums are indicated, and whether barrier repair or targeted treatment takes priority. Clients living in Montréal deal with dramatic seasonal shifts — from summer humidity to winter dry-air heating — and our protocols are adjusted quarterly to reflect those changes. A routine that works in July often needs significant reformulation by November, and we build that into our follow-up scheduling.

Our skincare service range

Each protocol is diagnostic first, treatment second.

Skin Mapping Facial

A 75-minute appointment structured around a detailed skin assessment. Product selection follows analysis — not the reverse. Suitable for first-time clients or those whose skin has changed.

Exfoliation Treatments

Enzyme, lactic acid, and salicylic protocols selected by skin type and current barrier state. We do not apply chemical exfoliants to compromised barriers — your safety governs the method.

Barrier Repair Series

A three-session protocol for reactive, over-exfoliated, or sensitised skin. Uses lipid-rich formulations and minimal active load to restore function before introducing corrective actives.

Seasonal Skin Adjustment

A shorter reassessment appointment — 45 minutes — timed to Montréal's season transitions. We update your at-home protocol recommendations and adjust in-studio treatments accordingly.

“I started going to Mintbterra in September and by December my skin had stopped reacting to the cold the way it always had. The aesthetician caught that I had been over-exfoliating at home — something no one had flagged before — and restructured my entire routine around barrier repair. Genuinely changed what winter looks like for my skin.”

What skincare at Mintbterra cannot do

Mintbterra does not offer injectable treatments, laser procedures, or any service that requires a medical licence. We are not a medical spa. Our skincare services are professional-grade facial treatments — evidence-informed and results-oriented — but they are not a replacement for dermatological care when a skin condition requires it. If your concern falls outside our scope, we will say so directly and suggest you consult a dermatologist. Results from any skincare protocol are influenced by factors outside the studio: your home routine, diet, stress levels, sleep, and environmental exposure. We can optimise the in-studio work and guide your home care, but we are transparent that consistency on your side matters as much as technique on ours.

First-time skincare clients are booked for a 75-minute mapping facial — the foundation for any further protocol we design together.
